Hailing from a humble town of Dungun, Terengganu, it did not stop Valerie Chong to set her aspirations high. Valerie pursued her studies in University of Leeds, UK and graduated in 2006. She begins her legal journey in Malaysia with the completion of Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) Examination.
Upon the conclusion of her pupillage at the then Messrs Lee Swee Seng & Co, she embarks on the legal practice that specializes in general litigation. Valerie handled many of her trials independently and this had contributed to her maturity in the core values as a legal strategist. She strives to analyze facts and interpret laws accurately. Valerie’s success in various legal enforcements had set many legal precedents.
Valerie believes in the empowerment of her legal practice by diversifying her expertise in real estate and corporate matters. Her experience in litigation had provided her foresights in helping her clients avoid many potential disputes that would have manifested.
In addition, Valerie is also listed as a licensed trade mark agent. Besides that, she determines to address the issues faced by most employers and individuals in immigration law and its procedures. She acquired her experience by handling sophisticated procedures in the immigration process as well as by serving as a Legal Executive in the Immigration Department of Messrs. Shearn Delamore & Co. Coupling these experience and her litigation expertise, she is ready to take on any matter that is related to immigration law. Valerie’s enthusiasm in the law of immigration is also displayed by her eagerness to educate the public at large in this area.
In 2012, Valerie’s talents and efforts were recognized when she was offered the privilege to be a partner by the Senior Counsel, Colin Pereira. Her vision to bless the community with her career eventually led her to establish Valerie Chong & Co. in 2013.
Adding to her list of accomplishments, Valerie is passionate in resolving complicated issues in the Strata properties, management and related matters which has led her to being appointed as the President for the Strata Management Tribunal under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government to oversee strata management related disputes.
